​The Ancient City of Aphrodisias is an ancient city located in Karacasu district of Aydın province of Turkey. Kent, M.S. 2. it was founded during the Roman Empire in the century.The Ancient City of Aphrodisias takes its name from the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite. Aphrodite is known as the goddess of love, beauty and fertility. The city is famous for the Temple of Aphrodisias, a temple dedicated to Aphrodite.One of the most important buildings of the Ancient City of Aphrodisias is the Aphrodisias Theater. This theater has a capacity of 10,000 people and is one of the best preserved theaters of the Roman period. There are also buildings such as Agora (Sunday place), stadium, baths, theater, monumental tombs and sculpture workshops in the city.The city is also known for its famous sculpting school. Aphrodisias was an important sculpture center during the Roman Empire, and many famous sculptors studied here or made their works here. For this reason, there are many statues and sculpture pieces in the city.The Ancient City of Aphrodisias was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.
