​The Ancient City of Gordion

​The Ancient City of Gordion is known as a historical archaeological site located in Polatlı district of Ankara province, Turkey. Gordion is known as the capital of the Phrygian Kingdom and was an important center in antiquity.The Ancient City of Gordion, M.D. 9. it was founded in the century and M.D. 6. it came under the control of the Persian Empire in the century. Throughout its history, the city has been under the influence of different civilizations such as the Persians, Macedonians, the Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire.Among the most famous structures in the ancient city are the Midas Tumulus, Gordion Castle and the Lion Decked Gate. The Midas Tumulus is a large mound built as the tomb of the Phrygian King Midas. Gordion Castle is located in the center of the ancient city and was used for defense purposes.
